My name is Earl…I mean, Ian R. Bell, author ascendant and professional public menace. Also, the proprietor of this here web log. The Blocked Pipe is a new, made from scratch web log that I have decided to create in light of the fact my previous effort had become untenable as a public display of my opinions and insights.

Several problems - the first being that the original incarnation was under a ridiculous title that would absolutely never attract any sort of readership beyond a few close friends whom I could guilt-trip into reading. Secondly - many of the entries I made were personal ones, idiotic ramblings that don’t actually interest the public at large.

So, here we are. A quick summary, a prediction of some FAQs if you will;

Q. Who the hell are you, and why are you in my tubes?
A. Name’s Lord Ian Robert Bell the Lesser, Squire of Canning Vale, Midshipman in the Second Earth Fleet, Lieutenant-Colonel of the Made-Up Association and all-round nice guy. Folk’s call me Ian, mostly, or Junior, for obscure reasons. My online pseudonym is FackGerbil, partially in reference to the song by Eminem.

Q. That’s a stupid name.
A. That’s not a question.

Q. Why do you have such a stupid name?
A. It’s the name I was given, so suck on it.

Q. Ok, so what’s with this ‘Block Pipe’ name for the web log?
A. Well, whilst I’m a chronological pugilist by trade (read; clock puncher, nine-to-fiver, full time worker) I’m actually an author by nature. However, I suffer severely from writers block. Since ‘Writers Block’ was taken as a web log name already, I chose a more sideways approach to the issue. The blocked pipe is symbolic of my creative flow…and it’s blocked.

Q. That’s fairly specious. Are you always so specious?
Q. Do you always ask such idiotic questions?

A. I suppose so…I’m really terrible at these things and…hey! I’m meant to be asking the question here!
Q. It seems the tables have turned, no?

A. You’ll pay for this, FackGerbil!
